Time out chair?
Where can I find a time out chair, other than the "fun rocking time out chairs".

My idea of time out is not brightly colored and toy-ish looking chairs and that seems to be all I can find online!

Any help?

You don't necessarily need a chair. Just make them stand or sit in a corner. Standing still can be more unpleasant sometimes.
you dont need anything, you need a spot (the same spot -- bathroom works well for this). find a corner and have them stand and face the wall for a few minutes. something like 1.5 minutes x age. i cant remember exactly whats recommended.
on the nanny shows they never use a chair. i have never used a chair i make my children stand in a corner for 1 min per there age.
standing in a corner is much worse
You could get a wooden one? or look for chairs on ebay?
Try IKEA- they do have a lot of the fun colored chairs, but they also have traditional looking children's chairs. If you are low on space- a time out rug or mat make work, any kind of door mat or kitchen rug is a great size.
I have found using a plain little step stool works just as well as a time out chair. The one I have is a natural wood color so it doesnt look toyish. Good luck
have you thought about instead of a chair a rug or a place mat or a mat?? i use a kitchen braided rug place it in the corner of the room and put him on it for 2 min. (he is 2 yrs old!!) that worked better for me and him!!
We don't use an actual chair...we use the "naughty corner"...there's one on each floor of the house. Naughty corner is easy because there's always a corner when you're traveling or even just out of the house.
You could go just about anywhere that has wood furniture if you want a time-out chair. Or have a move-able spot (like a small rug) or a move-able marker like an arrow to mark the spot you would like them to sit/ stand for their time-out.
I really like our mat to stand or sit on. Best of all I can throw it in the backpack to take anywhere. Ours is just a cloth placemat from Walmart.

Most folding chairs (like for card tables) are pretty boring looking. They aren't child sized but my daughter sits in a regular chair for dinner so a regular sized chair should work.
Get a plastic stool and mark it time out with their name on it. These can be found in the dollar stores or walmart (use marker for the writing)
